Masae had always been a clear-headed child; always one to logically understand the world around her. She was regarded as an academically brilliant student, diligently observing to understand her surroundings. Yet, she is still a naïve girl who lived a sheltered life under her grandparents’ strict rules. One could easily describe her as book smart, street stupid. She stood out like a sore thumb for her wealthy upbringing with the way she carried herself and the mannerisms that called back to older times. Her reserved nature in social situations conjured images of a yamato nadeshiko; some would refer to that as shyness, however, Masae was more of a self-aware person and awaited when it was her chance to speak her thoughts.
While that said, she could be taken as a very passive person; gifted with knowledge yet keeps her head low and gaze down as she accepts anything that happens to her. As a result of her upbringing, Masae willingly accepts everything that happens to her with immediate indifference, yet, she repents over missed opportunities. Masae is always flooded with regrets of missed chances dealing with family, friends, her career path, etc. Even with such a negative attitude toward herself, Masae is still benevolent to herself and those around her. A strong desire to help others overwhelms her and often extends a helping hand, even if the other doesn’t feel worthy of it.
Also befitting of her upbringing, Masae is an eloquent speaker, concise and clear with her thoughts. She can articulate her thoughts well, though it may often feel that she’s being a little too blunt or straightforward about her immediate thoughts on a situation. One may also mistake her passiveness for a lack of confidence, however, she’s proud of her abilities and won’t allow anyone to question them. Though, her confidence can be misinterpreted by her stiffness. Her overly formal mannerisms make her appear as if she were making it up.
